Ever since the plasma screen television first became available, people have been impressed by the item. Really, why not? The new versions were thin and flat, and much more pleasant to look at than the bulkier, older models. Because of the build of the plasma screen television, the new televisions were more flexible in how you could use them. Unlike traditional televisions, for example, you can mount this type on the wall, or hang it from your ceiling. Due to its incredible space saving design, this newer model was an immediate favorite among many showcases.

Comparing the technology in the older types of television with the newer plasma screen models is always an interesting task. The older sets used cathode ray tubes, or CRT, to produce images, while the plasma screen television does not. It was because of the CTR that most of the television models were so large. Instead of CRT, the plasma screen television uses glass components (or “cells”) that are injected with neon-xenon, a gas. Such gas is electrically charged while suspended in plasma, resulting in phosphors struck blue, green, and red. Images are produced through the phosphors, which erupts to cause the desired effect.

You may know people who have purchased a plasma screen television due simply to the size alone. Features can easily have negative consequences for those that are blinded by the positives. However, do not concede that bigger is always better. People do this without thinking about how large their room size for the television is going to be. With the size of these sets, it will be an imposing figure in your entertainment room and so it is important to put it where you think it is appropriate.

If you don’t avoid sitting too close to the television, you can wind up with a number of health problems. For any television that is 32″-37″, you should maintain a space of at least 6-10 feet. A greater distance of ten to fourteen feet is recommended for people purchasing a 42 to 46 inch television. People buying a plasma that is 50 inches, or greater, need to stay back at least 15 feet. An incredible distance of 25 feet is recommended for TVs that measure more than 60 inches.
