TRANSISTOR RADIO DESIGN

Focusing on the design of pocket transistor radios manufactured during the 1950's & 1960's!

SCEPTRE STR-207

This Sceptre STR-207 Boys Radio was manufactured in Japan circa 1960. It may have been made by Matsushita…

I have also seen this radio branded as a ‘Windsor’ and as a ‘Teen Tone’.

The vertical gold and black Sceptre logo gives this radio an appealing look. It also features an under-painted tuning dial that trumpets the fact it is ‘ALL TRANSISTOR’!

The top of the textured metal speaker grill has a rather jagged look to it.

The baby blue cabinet looks great on this radio!

This Sceptre had severe burn marks on the plastic cabinet due to contact with the vinyl carry case. Unfortunately the vinyl case reacts with the plastic creating chemical burns over time. I spent hours sanding and polishing the cabinet in order to remove those damn marks!

Inside there are two Matsushita transistors and another electrical component thingy also branded as Matsushita…

BOX & ACCESSORIES...

This Sceptre STR-207 comes with a gift box, vinyl case, earphone and detachable aerial!
